There may be no better place for pastries and baked goods than The Lawyer and the Baker. Plentiful tea and coffee are spread across a counter next to a center island with incredible muffins, Danishes, scones, and breads.

At the front counter is an ever-changing spread of cookies, brownies, and cakes. Of course you can purchase soups, salads, and sandwiches that are so large I’m not sure how they make a profit off them.

I stop there at least once a week, and though the small dining area can easily fill up, it’s always worth the trip. Many others I know have made it a regular lunch stop with the amazing soups and salads, though the top choice of many is the turkey sandwich.

Whether passing by for a top-notch pastry or settling in the sunny cafe section, The Lawyer and the Baker is one of Manchester, VT’s best places for a bite to eat.
