The Blue Benn Diner in Bennington
By admin • Jan 29th, 2007 • Category: RestaurantsRoute 7 travels through the middle of Bennington. On the North Street section of 7 is the Blue Benn Diner across the road from the Veteran’s Home.
Though not a 24-hour diner, the Blue Ben combines the traditional dining car with extensive dining fare. The food is top notch diner food, coming from a former resident of New Jersey who loved diners, and the atmosphere is fitting enough.
The menu includes diner favorites, but provides options for vegetarians beyond a salad. Even the breakfast menu has an amazing variety of pancakes.
Not finding what you want on the menu? Just look up behind the counter and you’ll find a host of options posted all over the wall.
Our latest meal there included a nice turkey dinner and eggs with turkey hash and hash browns. All were reasonably priced and cooked well.
With limited seating, the down side to the Blue Benn is a long wait during peak hours. In addition, it closes at 4:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday, so don’t plan on dinner during the weekend. But you can find breakfast there 7 days a week, and that’s good enough for me.
