A Blogged Guide to the Shires of Vermont

Emerald Lake State Park

By admin • Aug 15th, 2007 • Category: Hiking, Summer Sports

For a quiet day of swimming and hiking in a small, warm (for Vermont at least) lake, Emerald Lake State Park is a great stop. Though not ideal for kayaking or canoeing due to its small size, Emerald Lake provides everything that a family needs for a great day: a relatively clean lake, clean facilities, plenty of places to eat, and boat rentals.

Hiking trails run up the steep hills and camping opportunities abound at the top of the park. The views throughout the park of the steep Green and Taconic Mountains are excellent, with the only drawback being the close proximity to Route 7.

Nevertheless, this park located in East Dorset is very easy to find, since the entrance is just north of the East Dorset General Store on Route 7.
